Hog’s Apothecary

Located on 40st street off Broadway in Oakland, this is restaurant is all about pork and beer.  Fitting to the theme is a giant pig statue on top of a keg at the back of the restaurant.

What’s great about this menu is that it features my three favorite versions of pork:

1)  Charcuterie plate, referred to as the “butcher’s coffer” on the menu

2)  Corndogs!  and with a homemade sausage inside – so delicious.

3)  Poutine – what’s not to love about pork and fries?

The menu is a mix of casual and formal dining – sandwiches and more formal plates of meat.  With an extensive selection of beer with various small plates and snacks on the menu, it’s a great place for happy hour.
