Homemade Twix

The recipe is called “Millionaire’s Shortbread” in Baked: New Frontiers in Baking by Matt Lewis and Renalto Poliafito.  I was drawn to this recipe because it was described as a “rich man’s Twix© bar”.  I love Twix© bars!

In the cookbook, there are always “baked notes” to give you heads up on what to expect or how to make things better.  The “baked note” for this was that it is messy to eat.  So to make it easier to share at work, I halved the amount of condensed milk used for the caramel filling to minimize any gooey mess.  I then cut up the bars and froze them before bringing them out to share.  Once the bar melts for a minute or so, they are perfect to eat and really tastes like a Twix© bar!
