True Burger

I love a good burger.  There is something so satisfying about smelling the aroma of fresh charbroiled beef and then biting into the juicy patty with all the fixings.  One of my favorite places for a classic burger in Oakland, California is at True Burger.  Opened by two former chefs from Baywolf, I am always so impressed with the classic burger joint vibe and great food.

The burger patties are all made fresh – none of the processed packaged stuff.  See how the patty has a free form shape?

I prefer the chili topping on their hot dogs!

IMG_8422  The chili is classic with black beans, cheese and onions.  Unlike other restaurants, the chili is not so wet that it overwhelms the dog and or make the bun soggy.  Very yummy.  You can also get the dog plain or with a spicy slaw.  They even have a chicken sausage with sauerkraut option that is delicious too.

The fries are crispy and addicting.  You can get them with chili or cheese as well, but I prefer mine plain.

Besides these offerings, they have vegetarian options and you can even get a bowl of their chili on the side!  There is something for everyone!

The best part?  DESSERT.

They have milkshakes in the standard chocolate and vanilla flavors, to which you can add a variety of toppings and malt.  But each day, they have a special flavor like butterscotch or mango, as pictured here!
