Punalu’u Black Sand Beach

One of the famous black sand beaches on the Big Island in Hawaii is Punalu’u Black Sand Beach.  The black is from the volcano, as it’s ashes and rocks color the sand.

Along with the beach loungers, the green sea turtles join the crowd for naps on the sand:IMG_9097-0IMG_9091-0

The sand is rougher than regular sand and feels different between your toes as you walk through.  And while swimming is not that common on this beach, it didn’t stop this fisherman,
