revels – venetian style

Last year, my good friends invited me to go with them to see the Christmas Revels in Oakland, California.  A celebration of the winter solstice full of dance and song, I was excited to accompany them again this year.

Each year, the Revels take on a different cultural theme.  This year, it was Venetian and the stage was set to mimic St. Peter’s square.  The costume were renaissance and the dances featured a lot of ribbon work:

There was an interesting dance by the kids with fake knives that was really nicely choreographed:img_7088

A comedic story line ran through the program with these talented actors:img_7092

And, of course, the audience had ample opportunities to join along in song to celebrate the season!img_7095
