Last weekend, I attending a wedding reception at the Cliff house in San Francisco. The bride and groom wanted us to be there in time for sunset and it was beautiful:
The table tops were beautiful and they served real french bread!
None of that premade dinner rolls tonite! The bread was hot when it came out with a crunchy crust and soft and steamy inside.
We started with a salad of kale with dates and candied nuts.
I loved the dates and candied nuts. A bit disjointed as a salad – more like the greens on one side and the nuts on the other, but both were tasty in their own right.
For my main dish, I got the roasted duck breast with mashed sweet potatoes and boiled veggies.
The duck breast was beautiful – tender and flavorful without tasting gamey. The proportion of mashed sweet potato on the plate, however, was enormous – way too much and I only ate about 1/4 of it.
Then wedding cake:
Normally, I am not a fan of wedding cake but this was a light almond flavored white cake with a passion fruit filling and white chocolate coat. Not bad, not bad.
Most striking of the evening was the view:
Situated by the Sutro Baths and Lands End in San Francisco, the meal was a great end to a gorgeous day!
